"Picture Decatur" (Decatur IL)

Decatur has a statue honoring war hero and namesake, Stephen Decatur. And, like one of Decatur's other historic icons -- the Transfer House -- the Stephen Decatur statue has been relocated in the past as well. Right now, it sits at the corner of William and Franklin -- in the grassy area south of the Decatur Civic Center. Years ago, it sat on the grounds of the Millikin Homestead out on West Main. Last week, another beautiful mural was completed in Decatur, this one on the east-facing wall of GB's Books and Records at 702 East Eldorado. The stunning "1 LOVE" tribute to Bob Marley was designed by Shani Goss and painted by Shani and her husband Tronnie with assistance from Jerry Johnson. Thanks to Gary and Bob Laskowski for allowing this project to move forward. What a colorful addition to Decatur's streetscape! One Love! One Heart! Let's get together and feel all right.
